Alfa Romeo and Peperoncino Team on the podium with Clemente Alonso

The Peperoncino Team, sponsored as of this year by Alfa Romeo Giulietta, picked up an important third place in the last stage of Ironman 2012, in Frankfurt. The Spanish athlete achieved a genuine feat, finishing the race with an excellent time: 8 h 14' 44''.

This was in spite of some technical problems with a wheel and the driving rain, which certainly didn’t help during the bike section. He therefore reached the finish line in third place, behind the world distance record-holder and champion Sebastian Kienle on his home turf. For Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Clemente Alonso’s podium, the third after those in Pescara and Nice, ends the first year sponsoring the Peperoncino Team with a great success.

A success which Alfa Romeo Giulietta, official car of Ironman 2012, also experienced in the warmth of the public and the great commitment of the athletes to the event: 2,000 athletes in the Italian stage at Pescara, 2,500 at Nice and 2,800 in the final stage, in Frankfurt. A great commitment which corresponds to Alfa Romeo’s support for a discipline which embodies the highest values of sport, impressive both in terms of the achievement and great number of performances by the competing athletes.
