The Alfa 147 offers some of the most advanced solutions for keeping control of the car in every situation: its extremely rigid floorpan is perfectly complemented by the high wishbone front suspension – derived from Formula 1 – and the McPherson rear suspension setup. The hydraulic braking system is powerful, quiet and servo-assisted.

The car also features the latest safety technology, including ABS with EBD for bilateral control in the event of a fault, ASR for maximum grip on bends and when accelerating, VDC (stability control) and MSR for stability in extreme situations, together with Brake Assist for emergency braking situations, and FPS (Fire Prevention System).
Passive safety in the Alfa 147 is assured by the solidity of the cabin, with anti-intrusion bars and reinforcements with progressive deformation. On the inside, there are six airbags as standard, including two window bags for head protection, and lastly, there is passive protection against theft, with the Alfa Code key, immobilizer and friction steering lock.
