Everything began with the first pencil sketches. These display all the emphasis, the enthusiasm of someone who tries to imagine something new when faced with a blank piece of paper. In this situation, you convey all your feelings, you convictions and, why not, even a touch of subversion.

ASSEMBLY

A concept becomes reality. The Alfa Romeo 4C is assembled: the load bearing structure is ready to be clad, the body and all components to be put together. A wide and varied working team has been called in to achieve a single aim: to turn a prototype into a supercar. Before it is put on show, the 4C Concept will have to be assembled, painted and inspected.

BRAND

The only thing missing on the 4C Concept is a signature: the Alfa Romeo badge is added to the car. The new concept car has arrived: curvy features, distinctive traits and all the character of a true Alfa.

COLOUR

The new 'Lava Red' colour, a soft touch anodised red, makes its debut on the Alfa Romeo 4C Concept. The ink adds depth and gleaming curves. A fire red shade with dark highlights.

DESIGN

After various sketches and drafts, the shapes start to take on life. The result is the soul of a model, the essence of the 4C Concept. This gives rise to shapes and lines: a classic two-seater coupé, with curvy lines and a compact shape.

THE SCALE MODEL

From drawings on paper to a clay model, the shapes of the 4C Concept are moulded, resized and perfected. The 3/8 scale model reveals a compact car with curvy and uncluttered lines.

ACTUAL SIZE

The model is now actual size. Approximately 4 m in length and a wheelbase of some 2.4 m In its shape, the 4C Concept is revealed in all its compactness and agility, in a final model very similar to the original design.

CARBON FIBRE

Carbon fibre is the key element around which all of the 4C Concept's performance characteristics have been built. The chassis includes a floor pan made out of carbon fibre in which a space has been formed for the seats.

ALUMINIUM

A significant reduction in weight and optimisation of the centre of gravity: these are the benefits obtained through the use of aluminium for the rear structure and crash boxes. The weight of the 4c Concept is less than 850 Kg.

ARCHITECTURE

The 4C Concept is a two-seater rear wheel drive coupé, unveiled in all its compactness and agility. Inspired by the style of the 8C, the 4C Concept reflects the same mechanical layout on to which the two main boxes are grafted: strong volumes and cross-sections at the rear, the front made up of two long muscles that give rise to the front wings and a 'V' on the bonnet ending in the distinctive badge. To guarantee maximum agility and road-holding, the suspension layout is extremely sophisticated: high double wishbone at the front, MacPherson at the rear.

The powerful rear mid-positioned 1750 Turbo Petrol power unit developing more than 200 HP guarantees optimum performance and acceleration from 0 to 100 km in under the threshold of 5 seconds.

TECHNOLOGY

On this supercar, technology derived from the 8C integrates and interacts with technology from Alfa Romeo's 'everyday' models. The car is equipped with a new Alfa TCT gearbox and Alfa D.N.A. selector.
