FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Phillip Island, 23 February: the engines are roaring at the 2014 SuperBike Championship and Alfa Romeo will be at the finishing line for the eighth consecutive edition as Top Sponsor and Safety Car.
During this new season, the Giulietta and MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde will be out on the track beside the stars, taking up the baton handed to them by the MiTo SBK in 2013.
But that’s not all. Visitors will also be able to admire the 4C supercar, which will also be Official Safety Car following its 2013 début at the Moscow Raceway, an event that marked the official return of the Alfa Romeo make to the Russian market.
The SBK world championship has attracted an increasingly large crowd of fans over the years due to the spectacular nature of the event and high level of uncertainty. The riders drive standard production-derived motorbikes, with average power ratings of 220 HP and performance levels not far short of a GP motorbike. It is easy to spot the likeness with the Alfa Romeo stable: vehicles that are perfect for everyday use, but ready to arouse thrilling emotions and performance.
Among the new features for 2014, a new rule has made it possible to increase the number of participating teams: nine manufacturers will be engaged in competing for final victory. Italy is well represented and as hotly tipped as ever: the makes include Ducati, Aprilia Mv Agusta, and Bimota plus no fewer than eight riders.
