TRAFFIC JAM AND HIGHWAY ASSIST
MANAGE YOUR SPEED AND KEEP YOU AT THE SAFE DISTANCE
The Traffic Jam and Highway Assist systems support the driver to keep the vehicle in the centre of the lane at the pre-set speed and to keep the safe distance from the vehicle in front. The differences between the two systems is up to the operating conditions:
on fast roads Traffic Jam Assist is active at speeds up to 37 mph
on motorways Highway Assist is active at speeds up to 90 mph
Thanks to the combination of Active Cruise Control functions, the systems allow the detection of the road condition while a camera positioned on the windscreen and a radar sensor applied on the front bumper detect the presence of other vehicles and lane limits. Once the cruising speed and the distance level from the front vehicle have been set, the system allows the vehicle to proceed remaining in the centre of the lane and maintaining a steady speed as set by the driver. It will eventually reduce the speed to return the vehicle to a preset following distance if the vehicle ahead slows down.
